Irish money

Fuel cost calculator

Litres and cost for a trip, a return, or a commute.

Calculated in this page. Nothing you type is sent to a server.

Type the price on the pump. The placeholder is an illustration, not a current price.

How to use it

  1. Enter the distance in kilometres and the car’s litres per 100 km.
  2. Enter the pump price in euro per litre. There is no default price.
  3. Choose one way, a return trip, or a monthly commute. A commute day is a return journey, and you set how many days.
  4. Enter how many people, including the driver, are sharing the cost.

Litres per 100 km

Irish fuel consumption is usually quoted in litres per 100 km, and fuel is sold in litres. Litres for the trip are the kilometres divided by 100, multiplied by the L/100 km figure. The cost is those litres times the price you type. A return trip doubles the distance. A monthly commute doubles it for each day you enter.

If you have a miles-per-gallon figure, convert it first on the mpg to litres per 100 km page. The UK gallon and the US gallon are different. Miles and kilometres are on the miles and kilometres converter.

Splitting the cost

The share is the trip cost divided by the number of people, including the driver. The price box is whatever is on the pump. This page does not store a current price.

Questions

Is a commute day one way?

No. Each day is the distance you typed, there and back. Change the number of days to match the month.

Can I type miles per gallon here?

No. Convert UK mpg to litres per 100 km first, then enter that figure. A US mpg number is not the same.
